HELLO FRIENDS!

I took a break.

I don’t do that often which frankly is ridiculous.

Especially from me a LIFE ENTHUSIAST!

I have shared my story with you, so you know how important my career pivot was to my well-being.

I need to be honest.

A pandemic mixed with a living with cancer diagnosis made me fearful to fully live my life.

I know I am not alone.

I was right to feel that way. We had to be careful for ourselves and our community. 𝗧𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝘄𝗶𝗹𝗹 𝗻𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿 𝗰𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗲, I will always be cautious and wear masks in stores and restaurants. I will do my best to be safe in places that have too many people, and I will get my vaccines whenever I need to. But I knew with this break I needed to push myself. I call it my 𝗶𝗺𝗺𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗯𝗮𝗰𝗸 𝘁𝗼 𝗹𝗶𝗳𝗲.

We were safe of course but last week I didn’t wear my mask in open spaces, and I hugged more. 𝗧𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴𝘀 𝗜 𝗵𝗮𝗱𝗻’𝘁 𝗯𝗲𝗲𝗻 𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗲 𝘁𝗼 𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗮𝗹𝗹 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗯𝗲𝗴𝗮𝗻.

𝗜 𝗳𝗲𝗹𝘁 𝗻𝗼𝗿𝗺𝗮𝗹…𝗶𝘀𝗵. I haven’t felt that way for quite some time.

I am about to lay another 𝗹𝗶𝗳𝗲 𝗹𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗼𝗻 𝘁𝗿𝘂𝘁𝗵 on you!

Do you know how you hear about people who have a life-altering event that changes their life for the better?

𝗧𝗵𝗮𝘁’𝘀 𝗺𝗲.

I’ve had three life events that changed my life. (I wish I didn’t but such is life!)

So I made this big career pivot to become a 𝗟𝗶𝗳𝗲 𝗘𝗻𝘁𝗵𝘂𝘀𝗶𝗮𝘀𝘁 with the intention of learning from my past mistakes and 𝗳𝗼𝗰𝘂𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗺𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝗼𝗻 𝗺𝘆 𝗹𝗶𝗳𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝗻 𝗺𝘆 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸.

I have done a lot of things in the last couple of years since this pivot I am super proud of. But one thing I am not as proud of is the fact that 𝗜 𝗵𝗮𝘃𝗲𝗻’𝘁 𝗳𝘂𝗹𝗹𝘆 𝗹𝗲𝗮𝗻𝗲𝗱 𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗼 𝗺𝘆 𝗿𝗼𝗹𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝗟𝗶𝗳𝗲 𝗘𝗻𝘁𝗵𝘂𝘀𝗶𝗮𝘀𝘁. I fell back into my old ways of work, work, and more work.

It happens. But for me, I know better. I know the preciousness of life and time and not to take it for granted. 𝗜 𝗻𝗲𝗲𝗱 𝘁𝗼 𝗱𝗼 𝗯𝗲𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗿.

And I will. I promise.

𝗜𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝘄𝗲𝗲𝗸 𝗵𝗮𝘀 𝘁𝗮𝘂𝗴𝗵𝘁 𝗺𝗲 𝗮𝗻𝘆𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗶𝘁 𝗵𝗮𝘀 𝘀𝗲𝗿𝘃𝗲𝗱 𝗮𝘀 𝗮 𝗿𝗲𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗿 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗹𝗶𝗳𝗲 𝗺𝗼𝘃𝗲𝘀 𝗳𝗮𝘀𝘁.

During the week I had countless playdates with my cousin and her kids. I thought back on all of the playdates I took her on when she was little. And here I am, 𝗜 𝘀𝘄𝗲𝗮𝗿 𝗮 𝗯𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗸 𝗹𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗿, and we are in the park playing with her own kids.

𝗜𝗳 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗱𝗼𝗻’𝘁 𝘁𝗮𝗸𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘁𝗶𝗺𝗲 𝘁𝗼 𝗲𝗻𝗷𝗼𝘆 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗺𝗼𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝘄𝗶𝗹𝗹 𝗿𝗲𝗴𝗿𝗲𝘁 𝗶𝘁, 𝗜 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗺𝗶𝘀𝗲 𝘆𝗼𝘂, 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗮𝗯𝘀𝗼𝗹𝘂𝘁𝗲𝗹𝘆 𝘄𝗶𝗹𝗹.

Take it from me. When I was told my cancer was back, and that it was aggressive, the FIRST thing I thought of other than, I want to see my brother, was since the last time I had cancer and I promised myself I would change, I didn’t, “𝗮𝗹𝗹 𝗜 𝗱𝗶𝗱 𝘄𝗮𝘀 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸.”

You don’t want to wait for something that life-changing to realize you need a change. 𝗣𝗹𝗲𝗮𝘀𝗲 𝗹𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗹𝗶𝗳𝗲 𝗹𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗼𝗻 𝗳𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝗺𝘆 𝗼𝘄𝗻 𝗺𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗸𝗲𝘀.
