A Time for Reflection

HELLO FRIENDS!

It is that time of year, at least for me, when I try to take the time to slow down, breathe and reflect.

I am going to be as honest as I can about what is going through my mind as I start this practice.

I am conflicted.

I am struggling with a few things in my life, but I know I am not alone.

I worry about my health (physical and mental.) I worry about my finances. I worry about my relationships.

I am living in a constant loop of worry these days and I know I need to do something to fix that.

Sidenote: I have a ton of things in my life that are positive. A whole bunch. So I make sure I take the time to appreciate those things daily as well.

But the reality is sometimes life is just blah. Sunshine and roses doesn’t exist all the time. We all know that, right?

Or do we?

I am certainly not an influencer nor do I aspire to be one. This is zero shade on those who do it for a living, I am in constant awe of the hard work that goes into it and all the incredible impact a really good influencer can have. It is 100% a viable career path for some people. Just not me.

I am a storyteller/educator. I use social media to help me to tell my story. I also use it to build awareness around the events that I create and facilitate to educate people on their careers.

As much as I love social I am very cautious with it.

It can suck the life out of you sometimes.

Your time. Your sanity. Your worth.

It is so easy to be sucked into the scroll and the comparisons. I have been guilty of that.

Does that mean I want to get rid of my social forever?

Gosh no, I enjoy it way too much. Which is okay btw, be authentic to yourself, and who cares what other people think?  (I do, I care because I am a work-in-progress people pleaser but I am trying! 😉)

I do my best to manage my time on it.

With my reflection, I am realizing that I need to tighten up my management of it. I have been lax and I am feeling it.

Anxious. Overwhelmed. Sad.

I have decided for the start of the year I am just going to focus on communicating with my community via my newsletter and blog (If you haven’t signed up to be a Life Enthusiast Community Memberclick here!)

I will still use social OF COURSE. A lot of my community lives there so I will be posting to LinkedIn, and Instagram (and Facebook via Instagram) from time to time. But I am going to take a bit of a breather to kick off the year.

We all need a good reset now and then.

I think I want to take the time to reevaluate the relationship I have with social for my business.

Change is healthy.

Reflection is important.

Don’t get stuck doing things the way you have always done them, just because.

Also know that trying something that doesn’t work doesn’t mean you are a failure, it means you learned something. That is always a win in my book!

Take the time regularly (not just once a year) to reflect on yourself. For me, it is one of the biggest forms of self-care that I can do for myself. I am worth it and so are you.

If you click on the link in my bio on JAYEMBarrie you will find a great free tool called Year Compass that will help set you to reflect and set yourself up for success in whatever you want to work on this year.

Whatever your goals or intentions are for 2023 try to be kind to yourself about them.
